Commodore Connections November 2024

We are at the midterm time of our first semester together, and we have all had a busy fall learning and growing for sure! Thank you to all K-8 parents/guardians who are taking the time and conferencing with your child's teachers. We value your partnership and positive communication to support your student as they become engaged and confident learners. Our 9th-12th graders are mid way through first semester and now is the time to check their academic progress, encourage students to self-advocate if they need support, communicate with teachers if needed, and revisit semester goals.

November is the month we focus on gratitude and being thankful for our friends, families, and community. As a building principal, I am so grateful for an incredible staff who are dedicated to all of our students, an engaged parent community, and our amazing students who make me smile everyday! It is also the month of giving and you will see some opportunities listed below with links to donate whatever you can to support our efforts in BISD. We are grateful, thankful, and appreciate ALL of your support and generosity daily!

Our K-12 staff are committed to ALL of our students at Commodore. For our K-8 teams (Odyssey and Mosaic), we are focusing on consistent behavior expectations, classroom routines, and common agreements to support our students at lunch/recess and during transitions in our building. We teach, re-teach, connect before correct, and dedicate time in class meetings to address conflict resolution, problem solving, bullying prevention, and how to support our peers. We are also committed to partnering with parents/guardians to support your students at school. We have developed a simple flowchart of behavior interventions and communication. If you have any questions about supporting your child at school, please reach out to their classroom teacher. We all want every student to feel valued, seen, supported, and cared for at Commodore Options K-12. We will be using lessons and activities from our Character Strong curriculum for our K-12 students during class meetings, advisories, and during the Tuesday advisory block for EHHS.
