Welcome to May!

Here we go...the last full month of the school year...and it is a busy one! We have had a year full of learning and growth and this is the month we celebrate and recognize all of our efforts together. I know the calendar is full, as it always is in the spring, but let's have some fun finishing strong!

We begin the month with Teacher and Staff Appreciation week. Please help us show gratitude for all that our staff members do to make Commodore a student centered and engaging building! As we recognize all of our staff members, we need to say thank you to Paul Sullivan who is retiring this year. I know we're all happy for his next adventure, but he will be missed for sure!!

The first two weeks of May are also SBA testing weeks for 3rd-12th graders and high school AP exams, which are hosted in one half of our COS gym. Please pay attention to adjusted schedules for EHHS/BHS students next week, and helping your younger students get some good sleep and brain food for the SBA days! We support the students with additional snacks and calm testing environments.

Let's enjoy the longer, warmer days with extra sunshine this month! We will share additional updates and specific details about end of year events, including EHHS senior events, through Parent Square.

Staff Celebration!!!

Congratulations to Paul Sullivan for 38 years of teaching, 25 dedicated to Odyssey! Wow!!! He announced his retirement last week, and we are so happy for him and grateful for his commitment to our programs. We wish him the best on his next adventure...and of course, sad to have him leave us after so many years! He has taught math to all levels, coached high school tennis, softball, Math Olympiad and middle school robotics. His own children attended Odyssey and his commitment to academic options and student centered learning is impressive! THANK YOU PAUL...we appreciate you! Now go join the senior tennis tour...we'll be cheering you on!!!

Commodore Options K-12 Updates


  1. Friendly reminders about student behavior during on campus end of year events and celebrations: All school rules still apply when students/families are on campus for special events. Parents need to supervise students and siblings during evening events for safety, and be mindful of supportive audience behavior. Thank you.
  2. Safety: We now have a front gate that is locked with a monitor and camera. Please buzz in at the gate or the garden entrance door for entry. Sign in at the office kiosk.
  3. Mosaic K-8 Monthly Newsletter with specific links and updates.
  4. Skyward Updates: It is time to enroll for next year through the BISD ABC process. All returning students need to enroll! Please update parent/guardian contact information too. We need to confirm enrollment numbers in all choice programs.
  5. Parent Volunteer Process with BISD: Please go to the BISD Parent Volunteer link to complete the process.
  6. We have three active and supportive PTOs in our building. Thank you for your support. PLEASE DONATE AT THIS LINK!

Family Resources


Annual Back-to-school Check-in (ABC) 
This simple process helps us prepare for your student’s return and ensures we have the most up-to-date information to keep them safe and supported. Here is how to get started:
  • Who: All returning student needs to complete the ABCs
  • Where: Log in to your Family Access 
  • Time: It usually takes 15 minutes or less.

Please review the BISD Family Handbook for all information regarding policies, procedures, schedules, and community resources.

Character Strong Parent Resources and information:

Bainbridge Youth Services: Offers free and confidential youth counseling, parenting support classes and counseling services, in addition to free tutoring. Please check out the wonderful services of BYS.
